Awaken the innovator in you!

Innovation is a concept that needs demystifying to solve your problems and create solutions. Innovation is just a concept but it needs to drive accountability and responsibility around structured creativity and priority driven ideas to deliver growth.

Innovation is about creating value out of ideas that are new to you. Innovation doesn’t exist unless it provides commercial, competitive, social, or personal value. Don’t waste your time on follies but some great things come out of spit-balling.

There are Six C mindsets of innovation – How would you rank these as strengths? Score yourself out of 10 for each point.

Curiosity  Do you query situations to spot an opportunity to be creative?
Creativity – Now you see the opportunity and do the creative juices start flowing?
Critical Thinking – So you’ve been creative, do you know how to map out the action plan?
Courage – Now you have the plan, do you have the courage and conviction to push the idea forward?
Commitment – Are you committed
Clever – build on optimising the innovation delivery to create further innovation.

Innovation keeps you on track and allows us to expand your values and culture.

Who innovates in your business!

There’s several studies (Harvard Business Review, Forbes) that suggests that the older and busier you become, the less inclined one can become to embrace the innovation of youth once enjoyed.

The irony or contradiction of this situation may stem from the fact that you’re probably busy managing the innovation you introduced a few years and it’s working well. The challenge though is if you’ve a track record of being innovative then why not continue pushing the envelope and take your team with you.

The old ideas tin is also useful in getting innovative ideas from your team who hold a different view of what your business does, or can do. The leader cannot be the only innovator as it just switched the team off. When this happens the old adage of ‘when people can’t speak they’ll suddenly stop listening’ kicks in.

Go innovate!
